A quiet corner.
A piece of craft that feels as if it has always been there.
ATELIER JAPAN sits on the sixth floor of Daimaru Kyoto. It is a place where memory, landscape, and human hands quietly meet. Here, craft becomes an invitation. Slow down. Notice the texture of wood under light. Recognise the stories that live inside everyday objects.
We are more than a store.
From our beginning, ATELIER JAPAN has held a larger purpose. Japanese craft carries more than its form. Each piece holds wind from a hillside, silence from a workshop, the rhythm of seasons in a single curve or shadow. These are not items for display alone. They enter your days. They shift the light on a table. They ask you to pause.

This spring, we deepen that invitation.
Our new project, "Kumu Kōgei" (Language of Craft) – opens on 9 April 2026. It brings words to these quiet presences. A hillside forest. A coastal town. A workshop lit by morning light. We read these places and the philosophies of those who shape them, then we return them to you.
Every piece at ATELIER JAPAN now carries a companion. A small booklet, bilingual in Japanese and English. It tells where the object was born, the culture that shaped it, and the hands that brought it forward.
This is not a list of specifications, but a tool for reflection. Cultural refinement happens in these small acts. Reading. Holding. Seeing a story unfold beside the object itself.
From Daimaru Kyoto, and online.
Craft with you, for you.
Visit us from 9 April 2026. Let a piece – and its words – find a place in your days.
