OIKAZE — Kon-Jo Yukiwa (Gold-Blue Snow Ring)

In the heart of Kyoto’s historic Muromachi district, where the secrets of the textile trade have been cradled since 1931, the master weavers of Ito-ko have long guarded a rare, quiet luxury: the artistry of pure Japanese white silk. Seeking to carry this ancient elegance into the modern wind, they created OIKAZE—a decorative, boat-shaped auspicious fan named after the favorable tailwinds that guide a ship safely to its destination.

For the "Kon-Jo Yukiwa" (Gold-Blue Snow Crystal) edition, the fan’s surface is meticulously crafted from Kinsai Kinushi, a magnificent gold-leafed silk paper drawn from Ito-ko's deep archival heritage. Upon this canvas, the traditional Yukiwa (snow crystal) motif is born, cradling a deep champagne gold with a hint of blue that gleams like starlight caught upon frozen ground. Long ago, ancestors found in these elegant, overlapping snow rings a profound poetry—a miracle of good fortune and seasonal rebirth born from the marriage of Kyoto’s refined, poetic sensibilities and the timeless, unyielding elegance of Japanese silk craft.
