Founded in 1923, the company has been brewing sake in Fushimi, Kyoto. The company has been brewing sake in Fushimi, Kyoto, but production was suspended in the 2021 brewing year. After that, Mr. Takagaki, who served as toji (chief brewer) at Gekkeikan, took up the challenge of brewing sake again in a historical sake brewery built in the Meiji era. The location of the brewery is said to have been the former residence of Shimazu Fushimi of Satsuma during the Edo period, where Princess Atsuhime Tenzhakuin stayed during her stay in Kyoto, and where Ryoma Sakamoto fled after being attacked at Teradaya, among other historical events. A new chapter in sake brewing has begun in this place that has undergone many changes over the years.
