Sake brewery introduction :Gekkeikan Sake Brewery

In 1637, Jiemon Okura, the founder, moved from Kasagi in the southern part of Kyoto Prefecture to Fushimi, which developed as a castle town and became a bustling lodging and port town. In 1905, the company adopted the sake name “Gekkeikan,” a symbol of victory and glory. In 1961, the company completed Japan’s first sake brewery equipped with a four-season brewing system for year-round sake production. In 1961, Gekkeikan became the first company in Japan to build a sake brewery with a four-season brewing system. The company has continued to produce a wide variety of products, including Horin, a top-class junmai daiginjo sake, Gekkeikan’s standard “Kamisen,” a soft sake, and the industry’s first “sugar-free” sake (launched in 2008).
